« on: January 20, 2010, 08:17:55 PM »
Sounds of  hallelujah!!!!!  ring thru the lands.. Yes folks..it's here.. 1409XtraDelayed, 1409X2yearsLateMas, 1409doesthispatcheven_eXist?.. Final..

Big 'ole fuckin' thanks goes out to Jon M,for major funding, major hours of testing, taking time with admins to see what we needed, and most important not giving up on it.. (much appreciated,really!)..
also thx to kamek for his coding talent.. and esp you guys who helped test this thing..
I'm also very proud to have been a part of this.. it was a long road, and many headaches for us all.but! well worth it in the end..

To stop & think about this patch, and the difference between xadmin, and now.. it is nothing short of amazing..also officially puts more admin tools in postal2,than any other game available..that's something to be said there..anyways one more final thankyou, and on to the RWS release, and links..

Running With Scissors Announces Long-Awaited MP Patch for POSTAL 2,

Yes that right POSTAL 2!

1409X offers POSTAL 2 fans a parade of cool new Multiplayer features at the Right Price – FREE!

Tucson, AZ: A project that has literally been in development for years – a multiplayer patch for Running With Scissors' POSTAL 2 – is now available via download as a very special gift to the POSTAL Community. Co-created by RWS member Jon Merchant and POSTAL mod master Kamek, with support from various members of that storied game community, the patch dubbed 1409X is prepared to prove that the long wait for its arrival was well worth it.
"1409X is a collection and vast improvement of the greatest and most commonly used POSTAL 2 multiplayer updates, game types and fixes, all organized into a nice little patch," explained Merchant. "It also fixes some bugs based on community feedback and adds three new DeathMatch maps, eight arena maps and a Snatch map."

1409X also adds many new features for Mappers to mess with, as well as some new Editor functions. With these updates installed, POSTAL 2 becomes one of the most configurable online games ever produced.
Jon Merchant extended special thanks to Mod Man Kamek for "making all this possible" and to POSTAL Community members that "helped with ideas, testing and feedback, most notably Mr Downerup of www.downerup.com and Rob Myth from the DKT clan."

A detailed version of the patch's features, along with extensive instructions can be found in PDF format here .

To download the client side patch users can find the installer for Windows here

while the Zip archive for Linux, Mac ,or (Manual install) is here

and the full 1409X dedicated server for Windows is located here.

also worth mention. any future AOW servers will come pre equipted with 1409X  w00t!

You don't really need to download it if all your gonna do is play and not run a server, but you might as well, will save you possible downloading in the future (when Postal clears out some of your downloaded from server files).  It does reset your controls though, adds the o and p to stop and start music, and places the 'use' function on the E key as well as enter (for easier use of airmail).  So if you had your controls set up a certain way before, you will have to redo them after installing this patch.

It also gives you the option to install the new menu map, that was released with the free MP.

doesn't seem to be working on my macbook pro (os x 10.6.2). installed a fresh copy of MP and manually moved stuff from the patch folders to the appropriate folders in MP using "Show Package Contents" on the MP file. when i try to start it up, i get the spinning ball and then MP just closes.

any help is appreciated!  :-\

Good because you very nearly ruined my day :D

Although, welcome to the site dude, hope to see you stick around. I have the same set up as you, athough I admittedly run Postal in Windows due to mostly needing to get to the editor that is not included for Mac (a damn shame)

No Bigman, I was just playing and your character is in there. It actually plays excellent for me. Great work to Jon and D, and everyone who worked on it.
